Gumaca pictures

Attached are some pictures we took this morning on our back from a district meeting Gumaca (about 65 km) from here. On the way back we took the long route through a national forest - is actually a rain forest and the first time we drove through (a few weeks ago) we saw a monkey, but not this time. Today was bright sunny day which made of the pictures difficult to see what is in the distance. After conference we took the 6 missionaries out to lunch. The only place in town is Jollybe's - about ten notches below your local McDonald's. They thought it was terrific, but I couldn't get my hamburger down. The total cost for 8 lunches was 815 pisos or about $16.00. The first picture was on the Gumaca side of the rain forest and I took it so you would understand this is only a paradise for some - certainly not all. This is very common and is the norm here. The second picture is view down the road through the rain forest. If you come over this is one place we would like to take you. The third picture is another view from the mountain looking out to the Pacific ocean. The fourth picture is of some people harvesting some rice.
